MediaLaws is pleased to share the Call for Applications for the “Digital Rights: Theory and Practice” Winter School, which will be held at Venice International University from 25 to 29 January 2027.
The Winter School aims to provide participants with a multifaceted perspective on innovation, bringing together different theoretical approaches to digital rights and emerging case law in the fields of human rights, IT law, private law, and constitutional law.
More broadly, the programme seeks to make legal theoretical frameworks accessible and useful for analysing contemporary societal challenges. It will provide participants with the legal and conceptual tools needed to understand some of the most significant issues surrounding access to, use of, and sharing of information and data for different purposes by both private and public actors.
Applications must be submitted through the VIU website by 20 October 2026 and must include the completed application form, together with the applicant’s letter of motivation, CV and a photo. Applications are open to Master’s degree students who intend to pursue doctoral studies and PhD students in Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Political Science, Philosophy, and Sociology.
A maximum of 20 participants will be admitted. Participation fees are €400 for students from VIU member universities and €800 for students from other universities. The fees cover tuition, course materials, lunches at the VIU cafeteria and social events. PhD candidates and post-doctoral researchers from universities in the EU may be eligible for Erasmus+ mobility grant support. Candidates are encouraged to contact the International Office at their home university for information on funding opportunities and possible scholarships.
