MediaLaws is pleased to share the Call for Abstracts for the 7th Young Legal Researchers Conference (YLRC), organised by the Faculty of Law of Hasselt University. The conference will take place in person on 4 December 2026 at Hasselt University’s City Campus in Hasselt, Belgium.
The conference will bring together young researchers, primarily PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, to exchange ideas and discuss their research under the theme “Law under Pressure: Resilience, Resistance and Reinvention in Challenging Times.”
The conference invites contributions from all areas of law, including interdisciplinary research, examining how law functions when confronted with crisis, conflict and contestation. Suggested areas include constitutional and human rights law, environmental and climate law, labour and social security law, corporate and financial law, as well as data, technology and AI, including surveillance, privacy, AI governance, GDPR enforcement, generative AI and algorithmic decision-making. Contributions addressing other topics within the overarching theme are also welcome.
Researchers are invited to submit an abstract in English by 30 September 2026. The abstract should not exceed 400 words and should be accompanied by a short biography of no more than 150 words. Priority will be given to PhD candidates, while postdoctoral researchers are also welcome to apply.
Each selected presenter will have 15 minutes to present their research. Participation is free of charge, although registration is required.
