MediaLaws is pleased to share the upcoming TILT Seminar “The Age of the Institutions of Freedom: The European Public Discourse in the Digital Era,” featuring Prof. Corrado Caruso. The event will take place on June 11, 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30 CET at Tilburg University and online via MS Teams.
The digital revolution has reshaped public debate, challenging traditional democratic structures and amplifying emotionally charged content through global platforms. Prof. Caruso, Full Professor of Constitutional and Public Law at the University of Bologna and a leading scholar on fundamental rights, EU law, and constitutional justice, will explore how these shifts call for a rethinking of freedom of expression—not just as protection from interference, but as a positive institutional freedom requiring active governance.
The seminar will discuss the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), recent regulatory cases like TikTok and election integrity, and the evolving constitutional duties of public authorities in the digital age.
