European Commission proposes a legal framework for Artificial Intelligence

0

On April 21st, within the Communication on Fostering a European approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI), the European Commission proposed a first-ever general regulation on AI and a first update of the 2018 Coordinated Plan with Member States. New rules on Machinery will complement this approach by adapting safety rules to increase users’ trust in the new generation of products.

The draft regulations on AI and Machinery will now undergo scrutiny by the European Parliament and the Member States. Once adopted, the Regulations will be directly applicable across the EU. In parallel, the Commission will continue to collaborate with Member States to implement the actions announced in the Coordinated Plan.
